To emphasise the ‘inclusion’ element of Diversity and Inclusion, Target Group set out to launch a new strategy that encouraged individuals in the company to come together and discuss internal topics of diversity. Target Group’s ‘Working Group’, is a collective of people passionate about driving diversity and inclusion for everyone, as oppose to a traditional employee network that drives diversity for one topic. The new strategy has been very successful for the company and will continue to play a role in Target Group’s diversity and inclusion initiative.
This award recognises organisations that are moving the diversity and inclusion agenda forward, breaking new ground, over resistance, making change happen whilst benefitting both employees and the business.
The judges were looking for evidence of:
• the challenges faced in the workplace, including under-representation of certain groupings, fairness and impartiality in relation to reward, flexibility, access to promotion and learning and development opportunities;
• creation of an inclusive culture through challenging inequalities, barriers and bias in the development and application of recruitment, selection, people management and reward activities;
• evidence of how you are breaking ground and overcoming challenges and resistance.
The judges said:
“We were all unanimous about who the winner should be in this category and we have been blown away by the simple and clear agenda of the Target Group to encourage a strong culture for diversity and inclusion in the workplace.”
